A Smoky Mountain native who relocated to coastal Georgia in the mid-1980s, James built a wide-ranging career as an award-winning writer, editor, musician (he’s even shared the stage with Bob Dylan), and community cinema organizer. When he was invited to officiate a friend’s wedding, he discovered his true calling. His eloquence, openness, and genuine spirit made him a natural fit for guiding couples through one of life’s most meaningful moments.

In 2024, he returned to his Appalachian roots in the Boone area, bringing his talents to Western North Carolina as part of the Love & Wisdom team.
